The Atelier apartment ups the ante for modern Brooklyn living

Architectural Design

Taking inspiration from the former Los Angeles Garment District, real estate developer Carmel Partners turned to Surfacedesign for the creative control of the outdoor living spaces at The Atelier. The firm injected textile influences from the Bauhaus into the design and stitched it together with an array of geometrical lines and shapes that echo the building’s interior.

The exterior consists of two slabs – the southern, shorter slab is gridded, with four window bands that recall the facade’s distinctive grid, while the northern, taller slab is free of any gridding and features a slanted roofline that hints to the Midtown skyline. The building’s unique facade is further augmented by four protruding, 2-story-high elements at the north and south corners of the building that extend about two-thirds of the way across the facades in alternating fashion.

Located in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, The Atelier is a short walk away from charming boutiques and an exhilarating nightlife, as well as the vibrant street fairs, upbeat concerts and McCarren Park. It’s also close to several subway lines, which makes getting around the city quick and easy.

It’s a beautiful building with great views and excellent staff. I love the rooftop and all of the amenities they provide. They are always available to help and answer any questions I have.

I am happy with my choice to move in here and will be a long time resident. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful home in a perfect location!

They even have a dog park in the building which is so nice for all the furry friends you have. The staff is incredibly friendly and extremely helpful. They make everything so easy and have been wonderful to work with.

We moved here 2 weeks ago and have loved it so far! The rooftop is amazing and all the free amenities are a huge plus. We have been able to try out all the restaurants and get to know the neighborhood a little better. The team is incredibly kind and professional and it’s a great place to live!

You wont find a more beautiful building in all of the city. It has a lot of character and I really love the people here. They are very friendly and have been super responsive to any questions or concerns that I have had so far.

They have a good selection of floor plans and it’s very affordable for this area. It’s also a very safe area and has plenty of dog parks too!
